Julio Salinas grew up in the Rio Grande Valley watching his father build a middle-class life through hard work and determination. His father, the second youngest of nine siblings who travelled as migrant farmers before settling in the Valley, managed to get an education, build a career in local journalism, and give his family a decent life. But today, that same path is getting harder and harder for Valley families. Too many are being crushed by rising housing costs, healthcare bills, and property taxes. Julio is running to fight for investments in education so every child can succeed, access to affordable healthcare and mental health services, and good jobs with strong labor protections so hard work pays off again. This is a scrappy community campaign that belongs to the working families who built the Valley, and Julio is determined to rebuild the promise that hard work and community can lift everyone up.
