Claire Valdez is a union organizer, artist, and proud democratic socialist serving in the New York State Assembly. A dual citizen of the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo Nation and the United States, Claire cut her teeth as a worker at Columbia University, where she joined UAW Local 2110, won a seat on the bargaining committee, and organized to democratize her union from the inside. In the Assembly, she’s fought to tax the rich, protect tenants, and put power back in the hands of working people. Claire knows what it means to work a low-wage job and fight for a better deal — and she’s running to bring that same fight to every family getting squeezed.
