Armando Montero is a lifelong Arizonan and candidate for the Arizona House of Representatives in LD12. In 2020, Armando was elected to the Tempe Union High School District Governing Board at 19 years old, becoming the youngest person in district history to serve on the board, where he graduated from in 2019. On the Board, he has led bold policy reforms, such as a first-of-its-kind mental health policy. He has served as President for the past four years and was elected statewide to the Executive Committee of the Arizona School Boards Association after representing Maricopa County for 3 years.
Armando is a graduate of Arizona State University with degrees in Political Science, Economics, and Mathematics (Statistics), and is currently a J.D. candidate at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at ASU. In 2022, he was selected as a Harry S. Truman Scholarship recipient—one of 58 students nationwide recognized for their commitment to public service.
Professionally, Armando serves as a Senior Planning Analyst in Educational Outreach and Student Services at ASU and previously worked with organizations including the American Council on Education, the Arizona AFL-CIO, the Arizona Students’ Association, and March for Our Lives. He’s running to bring a fresh perspective to the Arizona State House and fight for strong public schools, affordability, and opportunity for working families.”
